Ailsa Craig Bed and Breakfast in the lovely garden suburb of Craighall Park was originally built in 1911 as stables for the area. The rural feel has been charmingly retained, yet Ailsa Craig is centrally situated for both business and leisure, with trendy Parkhurst, sophisticated Hyde Park and business orientated Rosebank right on the doorstep, with ever evolving Sandton not far off. If you want to relax away from the hubbub of Jo’burg’s vibrancy, there are fountains playing in Ailsa Craig’s colourful country garden, a bubbling swimming pool, a large shaded terrace and, in winter, flickering fire places in both the sitting and dining rooms. ROOMS Cocooned in this enchanting space are five en-suite bedrooms, one self-catering suite and secure off street covered parking. The 5 spacious, en-suite bedrooms, each with its own individual stamp, are decorated in antique Provencal style, each one with access to comfortable verandas leading onto the verdant garden. Each room is stylishly furnished with sofas or arm chairs, a writing desk, a bar fridge, a tea and coffee tray with complimentary home made rusks, mineral water, juice and fresh fruit. One queen size or two single beds are on offer and a hotel bouquet of DSTV is available in all rooms. The self catering suite embraces all of the above, with the added attraction of a fully equipped kitchen. FOOD Delicious English or continental breakfasts are offered in the dining room or on the deep terrace where, by prior arrangement, home-cooked meals can also be served. Just across the road, in Grafton Avenue, are some of Johannesburg’s best eating spots: Giles -a buzzing pub and comfort food bistro Tre Nonni – an intimate restaurant serving superb and authentic Italian food The Market Place – a popular deli where mouth watering take away meals, cakes and snacks are the major attraction. And, just a couple of blocks away, the vibrant Parkhurst strip, boasting an exciting diversity of restaurants. FACILITIES For the business minded, free internet access is available. Meetings or conferences for medium sized groups of up to 16 can be arranged and catered for.
