Buckingham Guest House is a small, traditional hospitality establishment with a contemporary twist. Owned by tourism consultant and writer Sally Roper, the property is centrally located in leafy Craighall Park, one of Johannesburg’s gracious, treed Edwardian suburbs. This district is ideally positioned for access to the city’s three key business hubs of Sandton, Rosebank and the historic Central Business District which dates back to the 1880s. Sandton, Johannesburg’s ultra-modern post-apartheid CBD, and trendy Rosebank, with its café society, great shops, African market and movie theatres, are both a five minute drive from Buckingham, with Johannesburg Old Town just 15 minutes away.
Inside the main house are two bright, pretty en-suite Bed and Breakfast guestrooms, both with full bathrooms, tea and coffee facilities, easy chairs and workstations. Guests also have the use of the welcoming guest lounge and library, which contains a Morso fireplace, books and magazines for browsing and a large six-seater table which can be used for formal gatherings or private business meetings at any time. In addition, Buckingham also offers two very sought-after executive self-catering garden apartments. Each of these comfortable, extremely secure one-bedroom units offer private entrances, separate lounges and full bathrooms in the clean, modern signature style used throughout. One of our self-catering units, Studio 1, has a private garden bordered with jasmine and roses, as well as a daybed and shady gazebo on the lawn which is irresistible on a hot summer’s day. The other apartment, Studio 2, offers sweeping views of the park-like garden and has the special feature of having two separate ‘his and hers’ bathrooms, one of which is wheel-chair friendly. All our units offer a full DSTV (cable) bouquet and unlimited Wi-Fi. There are also several areas ideal for outdoor entertaining that may be used by residents and their guests, as well as a large, fenced pool, making our establishment great for families. Buckingham Guest House is a great option for visitors to Johannesburg who often have a variety of needs. Whilst many of our guests are executives working in the city, we also are well-equipped to welcome international visitors, since the owner, Sally, is a qualified tourist guide. As such she has an excellent knowledge not only of Gauteng Province, but of the country as a whole. Additional services such as general travel planning and advice are part of our service.

Cancellation Policy Please note that we generally require a 25% deposit to secure a booking, especially during very busy periods. When it comes to returning deposits in the event of your having to cancel your booking, whilst we do everything possible to assist you, we reserve the right to negotiate the retention of the deposit if we are unable to replace your booking.
