Graham Carrick has been a qualified tour guide since 2005. His knowledge of local matters, both current and historical, is extensive and informative. He offers tailor-made tours for both the individual traveller as well as larger groups to suit all preferences and time available. You can choose from a quick tour of Johannesburg (affectionately known as Joburg or Jozi) or a 3-hour tour of Soweto to an extended version incorporating both cities. There are a number of museums to choose from, including the Apartheid Museum, the Origins Centre and Constitution Hill. Travelling further afield, you can choose to visit the Cradle of Humankind, one of 5 World Heritages sites in South Africa, taking in the Sterkfontein Caves and Maropeng, or a visit to Pretoria/Tshwane, the “purple” city of jacaranda trees, beautiful old buildings and the Voortrekker Monument. For those with a day to spare and who are unable to manage a full 4-day trip to the world-renowned Kruger National Park and Blyde River Canyon, you can take a day-trip to the Pilanesburg National Park in the hopes of seeing at least some of the big five, all of which can be found there – you could also pop in to Sun City, right next door to the reserve. There are also a number of local options available for seeing wild-life, such as the Joburg Zoo, Rhino & Lion Park, Elephant Sanctuary or Cheetah Centre. For botanists, a visit to one of our 2 Botanical Gardens – Johannesburg or Walter Sisulu, also famous for its pair of black eagles – is essential. Finally, having lived in Joburg for over 30 years, Graham knows his way around the city, so transfers to and from OR Tambo and Lanseria airports are no problem. Both he and his vehicles are fully licensed to carry fare-paying passengers. |
